There probably aren't too many people these days who get to meet/vet their in-laws before they meet their future husband or wife, but I am lucky enough to be one of them! I first met Peter - and Carol - when invited to Haxey for the weekend by my lovely friend - and now lovely sister-in-law - Rel. My memories of this weekend are of a convivial dinner, with port, cheese and excellent conversation. What really struck me about Peter that weekend was his lively interest in our thoughts and opinions, his warmth and his good humour.
Really, what better introduction to one's future family could there be? Not only has Peter passed on so many of his best attributes to Rich (and Rel!), but he has also been the most welcoming and generous spirited father-in-law I could have hoped for. I will miss him enormously, and remember him with love always. x

For over 50 years Pete was a true and wonderful friend. From the trip down the Rhine with Carol and Phil and 1970 to our more recent visits together to National Trust properties (including one where his mobility scooter broke down and we had to try to push him back to base) we had loads of fun! Trips to Stratford to see Shakespeare plays and brilliant Leicester University reunions - all such happy memories. We will miss you so much. With lots of love, Barb and Dave

Peter was a happy, lovely, intelligent, and generous man that it was my honour to know for far too short a time. His lasting legacy is a close, caring family whose enormous capacity for love extends out to all of us, as well as inwards to support each other. I will miss him very much, but know that while he is remembered he will be a part of our lives.
